Included in
the SPLOST III program is the construction of the new Derrick
Road Elementary School two-story prototype in the Westlake
Cluster. This new 130,000 Square Foot Elementary School will be
constructed on a 19.96 acre site designed for an FTE of 850 with
an allowable FTE expansion up to 1000. The two-story design will
offer the same amenities as the single story prototype within
the limits of a smaller available property. This fully air
conditioned facility will house 42 regular classrooms and 15
special purpose classrooms centered around a large outdoor
learning park, with the core functions grouped along a central
corridor. The planning and schematic design work has been
completed and is ready for approval so the project can proceed
into the construction drawing phase.
