Important changes to the SAT beginning Spring 2005: Effective with the spring 2005 test dates, the SAT will be changing. The biggest change to the SAT will be the addition of a new writing component which includes a student written essay. Also, the vertical section of the test is being renamed critical reading. Students will need to check with the college or university they are considering to determine if the new SAT will be required for admission. 2008-2009 SAT test dates and registration material are available on the counseling news bulletin board, in the counseling office and online. Students are strongly encouraged to register for the FREE SAT Test Prep online.

Important changes to the ACT during Spring 2005: Beginning with the spring 2005 test administration, the ACT will be undergoing changes. The ACT will add a 30-minute Writing Test as an optional component to the ACT assessment beginning in February 2005 for students testing within the United States who are applying to college for the fall of 2006 or later. The ACT also assesses a student’s ability in reading, math, and science reasoning. Students will need to check with schools they’re considering to see if the new ACT with the writing component will be required for admission. 2008-2009 test dates and registration materials are available on the counseling news bulletin board, counseling office and online.
