Nací en Colombia y el español es mi primer idioma.

Soy Licenciada en Educación en Lenguas Modernas; obtuve mi post-grado en Mercadeo, y tengo un Certificado en Traducción de la Universidad de Nueva York. Mi experiencia profesional incluye trabajos en HBO, Citibank y una compañía exportadora que tenía sus oficinas en las torres gemelas, mucho antes de que las destruyeran.

Tengo tres hijos, de los que me siento muy orgullosa: una niña y dos varones. En mayo ya todos serán adolescentes. No, aún no he perdido la razón…

Viví en Nueva York cerca de 26 años, y hace cuatro que me mudé para Georgia. Extraño de Nueva York  el teatro de Broadway, los New York Mets, ir a la playa y comprar frutas y verduras a precios razonables. De Georgia me encanta su gente, el clima (sin nieve), las bellísimas estaciones de primavera y otoño y el diseño de sus residencias.

Me encanta enseñar. He enseñado en todos los niveles, incluyendo 16 años en educación para adultos. Estoy convencida de que todo el mundo puede aprender, y que como profesores debemos empeñarnos en estimular las diferentes clases de inteligencia. Enseñar un idioma debe incluir mucha estimulación: visual, auditiva, interpersonal y hasta cinestésica. Quiero que mi aula sea un lugar dinámico donde los estudiantes puedan hablar, escuchar, leer, preguntar, observar, jugar, investigar, crear, practicar, escribir, cantar, analizar, visualizar, intercambiar ideas…Estoy muy entusiasmada con la forma de instrucción que ofrece Connected Academy. 

Hace dos años trabajo en Alpharetta Elementary. Recientemente me nombraron la Mejor Profesional del año 2006-2007. Intento traer la misma pasión que me permitió ganar ese honor a mi posición de profesora de español en Connected Academy. 

Born in Colombia, I am a native speaker.

I have a B.A. in Education (Modern Languages,) a M.B.A. in Marketing, and a Certificate in Translation from New York University. My professional experience includes jobs at HBO, Citibank, and an export-import company at the World Trade Center, long before we lost its towers.

I am the proud mother of three children, a girl and two boys. This May, they will all be teenagers. Yes, my sanity is still intact….

I lived in New York for almost 26 years, and have been in Georgia for almost four. What I miss about NY are its Broadway plays, the New York Mets, the beach, and reasonably priced fruits and vegetables. What I Iove about Georgia is the warmth of its people, the weather (no snow,) the beautiful and colorful spring and fall seasons, and the area residential architecture.

I love to teach. I have taught all levels, including 16 years in adult education. I believe everyone can learn, and I believe that as teachers, we should engage in stimulating the different kinds of intelligence. Teaching a language should include all sorts of stimulation: visual, auditory, interpersonal, and even kinesthetic.  I would like my class to be a dynamic place where the students can speak, listen, read, inquire, observe, play, research, create, practice, write, sing, analyze, visualize and exchange ideas. I am looking forward to the kind of instruction the Connected Academy is offering.

I have been working for two years at Alpharetta Elementary, and I was named Best Professional of the Year for the 2006-2007 year. I intend to bring the same passion to my Spanish teaching position at Connected Academy.
