LSAC Meeting MinutesJanuary 16, 20087:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.Attending: David Myers, Daniel Glenn, O’Neal Montgomery, and Susan Caster Congratulations to Ana Hale’s Construction Challenge Group of Michah, Austin, Trevor, Amanda, Morgan, Stewart, and Victoria for finishing 1st in the third Challenge Saturday. This is our first trophy! The new semester started well. We have about 90 students. We are making preparations for the GHSGT subject area tests by having all juniors take practice tests and if necessary attend review sessions during enrichment. AP tutorials are also being held during enrichment. Field trips can be an effective way to make the curriculum relevant. Some of the issues/challenges we have faced in trying to do field trips include:
The 2008-2009 Student Application has been revised. New questions focus on students desire and ability to engage in learning, how students take responsibility for their learning, and students ability to apply their interests to learning Georgia standards. As a measure of No Child Left Behind, Connected Academy must have no more than 15% of the student body absent 15 days or more. For this reason it was suggested that attendance be added to the contract signed by students and parents when they enroll. LSAC members were nominated for positions as follows:
