BANNEKER STUDENT
DISPLAYS MUSICAL TALENT!
  
Late Lawson,
a student in the Exceptional Education Community Based
Instruction Program, performed at the January PTSA meeting
featuring the Exceptional Education Department. Late came to the
United
States
9 months ago from Togo Africa. He did not speak any English and
is visually impaired. His father shared with the staff that Late
loved music. With the help of several special people- Mr. Faye,
Late’s assistant, Ms. Turner, his teacher, Mrs. Statella
–Harris, his music therapist, Ms. Thomas, the orchestra teacher,
Mr. Gossou, the French teacher, Mrs. Cloaninger, his Orientation
and Mobility teacher, Late has settled into school and has
taught himself to play the piano, electric keyboard and is
working on the guitar. He is a very talented musician. He
performed several selections for those attending the meeting.
