Grade 1 Staff

My name is Paula Bowen and I look forward to meeting each and every one of your children! I was born and raised in the Bluegrass State of Kentucky. I attended the University of Kentucky and received a Bachelor of Arts in Education. After graduation, I moved to Atlanta where I obtained my Early Childhood Certification from Brenau University. I have taught in various Montessori and private schools and this will be my tenth year of teaching. Just recently I received my Masters degree in Educational Leadership from Kennesaw State University. As you can see, learning is never-ending for me! During my spare time I enjoy reading, watching sports, and working puzzles. My goal for the school year is to create an environment in which the children are excited about learning. I feel it is important for me to not only to be their teacher, but also a role model. I want to keep the lines of communication open, so please feel free to call or send a note at anytime.

Hello there! My name is Bailey Browne and I am a first grade teacher here at Cogburn Woods. I was born in Birmingham, Alabama and moved around a lot as a child, including places like California and New York. My family moved to East Cobb thirteen years ago and currently still live there. I went to college at the University of Georgia (go dawgs!) and graduated in May! In my spare time I enjoy reading and photography. One day I would love to travel and see all the natural wonders of the world!

I am originally from Indiana, however, I grew up in East Cobb County. I attended the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!). I received a Bachelor of Science in Child and Family Development. I also hold a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgia State University. This is my seventh year of teaching. I have taught Pre-K, and first and third grades. My husband and I are joyfully raising our three and a half year old twin boys, Caelan and Colby. I look forward to sharing a wonderful year with your children!

Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, I have lived in Cincinnati, Ohio for the past seventeen years. I have a BS in Early Childhood Development from Ohio State University and a BS in Elementary Education from Northern Kentucky. I am a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority and an active member in my community.

My name is Kim Hanger and I am from Savannah, Georgia. I have taught first grade for nine years. I have a Masters degree in Early Education which is focused in reading and literacy. I have a wonderful family! David Jr., my son, is a Lance Corporal in the United States Marines and is stationed at Camp LeJeune. Jennifer, my daughter, is a college freshman who will be attending UGA (Go Dawgs!) and David is my husband of 24 years. I aim to model the fun of learning through inventive lessons and create a safe environment that promotes learning. I am so excited to be joining the family of Cogburn Woods and look forward to a rewarding year of teaching.

I've been teaching in Fulton County for five years. I've worked in education for over twenty years in Wisconsin and Georgia. I am married and have two sons.

I am honored to be a first grade teacher at Cogburn Woods. I have worked for the Fulton County School System since 1996. Prior to that, I worked at MCI Telecommunications in the Washington DC area before relocating with my family to Atlanta in 1994. I have three children, Bethany attends the University of Georgia, Sam attends Georgia Tech and Natalie attends Milton High School.
