WHAT'S UP AT COGBURN WOODS???
Heards Ferry and Cogburn Woods Penpals Meet!
|
Four of CWES third grade classes were paired up with third grade classes at Heards Ferry Elementary to be penpals this school year. They had an opportunity to meet face to face as the Cogburn Woods students took a field trip to Heards Ferry. Our students were eagerly greeted by their new friends at HFES! Various activities were planned for the students to learn and get to know each other better. The students then enjoyed a picnic lunch together and some outdoor fun! |

Fifth Grade "Savannah Adventure" Field Trip a Big Success!
| Cogburn Woods' fifth grade students, teachers and chaperones recently participated in a two day trip to Savannah, Georgia. The students participated in learning activities which included: Marine biology classes on the beach at Tybee Island, a dolphin watch cruise and coastal ecology lesson on a tidal river, demonstrations and lessons on the day-today life in Georgia from the Civil War to the Great Depression at Sea Brook Village, and a trolley tour of Savannah's famous historic district. The overnight trip was a very successful and enjoyable learning experience. |

Dr. Seuss Day Celebrated
|
Dr. Seuss Day was celebrated various ways throughout our school! Students helped decorate their classroom doors as their favorite Dr. Seuss book. In Mrs. Moore's kindergarten classroom, Mrs. Penkoski and Mrs. Hansen came in to make green eggs and ham for the students to enjoy. The students also dressed up like a Dr. Seuss character and participated in many literature activities based on his books. |
