WHAT'S UP AT COGBURN WOODS? (Continued)

Valentine's Day Carnation Sale to Benefit Troops!

Cogburn Woods' Student Council headed by teachers Jill Keller and Karen Schnell, sponsored a Valentine's Day carnation sale as a fundraiser to help purchase much needed supplies for our troops who are currently serving in Iraq. The carnation sale netted over $2,500 to purchase items for care packages which will be sent on behalf of everyone in our school.  Thank you to all who helped honor these servicemen with our gift of supplies, and at the same time, make a staff member’s day!

Fulton County Technology Competition Winner!

We are very proud of fourth grader, Akshaya Uthayakumar in Mrs. Parham's class, for winning "First" place in this year’s Fulton County Technology Competition! Her project, Around the World in 10 Minutes, was a multimedia presentation using PowerPoint. She will go on to represent Cogburn Woods at the state competition, the Georgia Educational Technology Fair, on March 8, 2008, held in Forsyth County. In addition,  fifth grader Sean Flanagan, tied for "Second" place with his project, Mercury, a project programming entry. Congratulations to both Akshaya and Sean!

100th Day Celebration!

Students in 1st grade celebrated the 100th day of school by dressing as if they were a hundred years old, and delighting students and staff alike by providing us with a parade. Afterwards, the students enjoyed a 100 foot sundae!

Mrs. Moore's Kindergarten class also celebrated the 100th day of school with a special visit by "Granny Duncan", who just turned 100 years old the week before! She is granny to CWES students Luke,  Abigail and Joshua Hall.

Freedom Tea

First graders celebrated Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday with a "Freedom Tea".
Mrs. Mitchell's students received "peace awards" for their participation in various classroom events.
