Local School Advisory Council (LSAC)?

Recognizing that community support is an important component of successful education reform, local school advisory councils (LSAC) were created by law in Georgia to involve teachers, parents and businesspersons in local school issues focusing on student achievement and school improvement. The Fulton County school system supports a three-tier organization that begins with input on the local school level progressing to the cluster and ending at the Superintendent's level of advisory councils.

The Northwestern Middle School Local School Advisory Council (LSAC) is a group that consists of NMS administrators, faculty, support staff, parents, and a community partner representative.  This committee meets monthly and examines issues important to the success and safety of students at NMS, identifying opportunities for improvement and suggestions for resolution to concerns.  Previous topics discussed  include traffic congestion, student scheduling options, injury tracking and effective methods of communications with the NMS parent and student body.
