Dear Parents/Guardians:

I am Shirley M. Shields, the new Assistant Principal of A. Philip Randolph Elementary School. I am looking forward to working with you, your children, the faculty and staff of Randolph. Please allow me to take this opportunity to share a little about myself.

I am native of Fayetteville, North Carolina and I have two daughters. I have been an educator for a little more than twenty one years. I have served as a classroom teacher, an instructional specialist and an assistant principal.

I received a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary and intermediate education from Fayetteville State University. I graduated from Emory University with a Master of Education degree in middle grades education. The University of West Georgia is where I earned my Specialist degree in Administration. I also received a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.

I welcome the opportunity to work on the Randolph team, where expectations are high and the focus is on ensuring that all students achieve success. I look forward to meeting each of you.
