Dear Parents, The Spalding Charter School Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created for the purpose of raising money to support the educational goals of Spalding Drive Charter Elementary School, and to assist in providing those "extras" that make our school great. In the past, the Foundation paid to bring High Touch – High Tech in-school science "field trips" right to Spalding. The programs cover the areas of Earth/Space Science, Life Science, and Physical Science, and meet National Science Student Performance Standards. Each session is hands-on, interactive and sensory, and geared toward the appropriate grade level. Thanks to the Foundation, High Touch – High Tech will return later this month to Spalding. Earlier this year, the Foundation sponsored the Fall Festival Cake Walk and the February Penny Drive. These two successful events, together with a matching grant from Wal-Mart, raised over $2,000. A portion of this money was used to purchase a commercial video camera for the school. The features of this camera have greatly enhanced the production of the weekly Tiger News and the filming of the school’s musical performances. Through its annual campaign, "Invest In Your Child," the Foundation is now actively raising money to continue supporting its mission. In addition to the annual High Touch-High Tech programs, a major goal of the Foundation is to purchase additional Promethean whiteboards and projectors for use in the classrooms. These whiteboards are loaded with features that allow instruction to become completely interactive with the children. Teachers can use them to access thousands of educational Internet sites for engaging instruction and fun games. The children have the ability to present their Microsoft PowerPoint or Publisher projects created on the computer, and to actually edit their work on the board as they are presenting. Ultimately, the goal is to have one of these wonderful boards in each classroom. However, we need your help to meet these objectives.All donations are important to the Foundation, no matter the level.
