School HistorySpalding Drive opened in 1966 for children in grades one through seven with only twelve classrooms. Expansions occurred in 1968 and again in 1988. Today the schools serves approximately 650 students in pre-K through fifth grade.
In 2003 Spalding Drive achieved Charter School status. The mission of Spalding Drive Charter Elementary School is a commitment to educate all children to be productive members of our global society. We assist students with discovering their own unique talents and gifts while facilitating their acquisition of knowledge, social skills, thinking skills, and traits of citizenship and character. Every child receives instruction and support according to individual learning styles and personal learning pace. All resources are dedicated to ensuring students reach full potential. We anticipate our students will excel in all areas of their lives as a result of their learning experiences at The Charter School. By providing a superior education, our public school will serve the students of our entire community. With confidence, families within our attendance zone choose Spalding Drive Charter Elementary School to educate their children. Our dedicated, highly qualified and effective staff will succeed at preparing the youth of Sandy Springs to fulfill their aspirations and, in turn, strengthen the American society.
