Assistant Principal

Ms. Mary L. Bolar has
been an educator for thirty-two years. At the age of seven, she knew she
wanted to teach. Her dream was realized when she accepted a position as a
seventh grade mathematics with the Henry County Board of Education in
Abbeville, Alabama. She remained with that school system for four years.
Ms. Mary L. Bolar has
been employed with the Fulton County Board of Education for twenty-eight
years. She began her career with the system as a mathematics teacher at
Russell High School. After Fulton County consolidated eight high schools
into four, Ms. Bolar became a mathematics teacher/department chair at
Westlake High School. While at Westlake, she became the Assistant Principal
for Curriculum. She later served as administrator for the Second Chance
Program for middle school students. Prior to coming to Stonewall Tell
Elementary, Ms. Bolar served one year as Interim Principal for Frank McClarin
High School .
Ms. Mary L. Bolar holds
a Bachelor of Science degree from Alabama A. &. M. University in Huntsville,
Alabama; a Masters of Education degree in Mathematics from Georgia State
University in Atlanta, Georgia; L-5 Certification in Administration and
Supervision from West Georgia College in Carrollton, Georgia; and an
Educational Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision from the
State University of West Georgia in Carrollton, Georgia.
Although nothing brings
the same joy as being an educator, Ms. Mary L. Bolar enjoys being of service
through her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She
currently serves as president of the Tau Epsilon Omega Chapter where she
contributes numerous volunteer hours in the areas of economics, education,
and health. Her chapter provides scholarships and service projects
within the East Point and College Park communities. Ms. Bolar believes
strongly that we should treat others the way we want to be treated.
