Help! Volunteers Needed
The PTA needs volunteers for the 8th grade
dance and the WBMS Olympics! If you can help, please
contact Karen Dixon at
karendixon3@yahoo.com. Any help you can give
would be greatly appreciated.
8th
Grade Dance
Attention 8th grade parents!
Don’t forget to send in a small (no larger than a 4
x 6) picture of your child from age infant to 4
years old to the front office with your child’s name
on the back. It will be used for something special
at the 8th grade dance. Please make a
copy as they cannot be returned. Also, we are still
collecting door prizes for the dance as well. Please
send to the front office. Suggestions would be
things like gift cards ($5-10), CD’s, etc. Please
have these items to school NO LATER THAN Friday, May
16th. Any questions? Contact Kim Schorr at
kschorr@bellsouth.net.
Materials Due
All books, not including math textbooks,
and CDs are now due in the media center.
Students must clear all overdue books and pay
all fines as soon as possible. Report cards will
be held for students with overdue books and
fines at the end of the semester. Eighth grade
accounts must be cleared with the media center
to attend the 8th grade dance.
The Yearbooks Are Coming!
Students, if you did not pre-order a
yearbook, there is still a chance you might get
one. On Thursday, May 22nd there
will be extra yearbooks sold for $40 CASH ONLY
beginning at 8 a.m. Only one yearbook can be
purchased by each student, so make sure to get
to school early if you want a copy of this
year’s yearbook.

Clinic News
Parents should pick up all unused
medication from the clinic on or before the last
day of school. All remaining medicine will be
disposed of at the end of the day on May 28th.
Attention rising 9th grade students:
This summer,
you will have the opportunity to enroll in a
virtual high school course. You will be
permitted to accomplish the required "general
health" and "personal fitness" requirements
prior to officially beginning your freshman
year. Effective this summer,
any rising freshman desiring to do so may
register through the GA Virtual School
(www.gavirtualschools.org)
or other approved, appropriately accredited
resources. You are allowed to register for one
or both of these courses this summer.
Rising freshman will not be permitted to
register for these courses through the Fulton
County Virtual Campus or a face-to-face summer
program due to the limited number of seats
available. The seats currently available must
be reserved for Fulton County upperclassmen in
need of credit recovery to meet graduation
requirements.
Directions for rising 9th graders to
register with the GA Virtual School (GAVS):
-
Go to the GAVS Web site,
www.gavirtualschool.org.
-
Click on Register for Courses on the
left side of the screen.
-
Click on the Create an Account button
on the left side of the screen.
-
Read through the directions and then click
on Create My Account.
-
Make sure to choose your current middle
school (not the high school to which
you will be rising).
-
Make sure to validate your account.
-
You will not be placed into a class until
your payment has been received.
Math Textbooks
Two middle school math textbooks are being
considered for adoption for the 2008-2009 school
year. They are published by Holt and by Pearson and
will be on display in the Webb Bridge media center
for review and comment from May 1 - May 9, 2008.
Parents and school system employees are invited to
review the textbooks and complete a rubric on each
series. The input from parents and teachers will be
used to make a final recommendation to the school
board for approval.
Redistricting Meetings
The two remaining redistricting meetings for
the new high school in Johns Creek are set for May
5th & May 20th to discuss attendance
boundaries. Parents and community members will
review school board-approved criteria for drawing
the boundaries and then break into facilitated,
small-group discussions to provide feedback. The
forums will be held at Autrey Mill School from
7-9:00 p.m. Participants are encouraged to carpool.

Affidavit of Residence required for 2007-2008
Starting this
school year, parents/guardians of all
students must submit a notarized Affidavit of
Residence form certifying that the family resides in
Fulton County. This applies to both current
and new students and will be required annually.
T
he
purpose of the Affidavit is to make sure that only
students who reside in Fulton County attend Fulton
County schools. Because of Fulton’s reputation as
one of the best school systems in Georgia, some
families living outside of Fulton attendance zones
have found creative ways to enroll their children in
Fulton schools. These families take advantage of
Fulton’s outstanding programs and services, yet do
not pay the taxes used to fund schools. The
notarized Affidavit legally verifies that all
children reside in their correct school attendance
zone, or have an approved transfer.
Two
forms of documentation are needed satisfy proof of
residency requirements.
Acceptable Documentation
-
Copy of home
mortgage payment book
-
Current bank
statement
-
Copy of home
contract
-
Current utility
bill (gas, electric, or water)
-
Current paycheck
stub
-
Apartment lease
showing name of lessee
-
Receipt to have

-

Parent are encouraged
to have the Affidavit notarized and submitted to
school durning the first week of classes.
However, a lenience period of up to 30 calendar days
is granted before the system begins to investigate
any families failing to submit their forms.
Notaries often can be
found at banks, law offices, copy centers, insurance
companies, courts, and in many other government
buildings. Each Fulton County school also has
at lease one notary on staff.
Note: The
documents needed for verification DO NOT need to be
attached to the affidavit form and submitted to the
school. Only the Affidavit form itself, once
notarized, should be submitted.
