The Desk Top Stores PTA Committee Needs Your Help!
ATTENTION ALL SHOPPERS! For the purpose of decorating for the Desk Top Stores, we need parents and students to save all of their paper shopping bags from the upcoming holiday weekend and send them in to the front office. There will be a box in the front office where you can drop them off. Thank you!

Handbook Highlights - Deliveries for Students at School
Parents and other individuals are requested to refrain from ordering flowers, balloons, or fast food lunches to be delivered to students at school. Such items create a disruption to the school day and to the learning process and will remain in the school office until the end of the school day. In an effort to help students develop responsibility and to enable the school
secretaries to accomplish their assigned duties during the work day, any item (such as lunches, instruments, P.E. uniforms, projects, homework, etc.) delivered to school by parents will be held in the office until the student comes to claim it. Students will not be called to the office for deliveries, nor will parents/delivery persons be permitted to deliver items to the classroom. Students receiving deliveries will have their names placed on a display board located outside the office. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated in this matter.

Reflections
The PTA Reflections Program is an arts recognition and achievement program for students. This year, the Reflections program provided opportunities for students to express themselves creatively and to receive positive recognition for original works of art inspired by the theme "Beauty Is . . .". Webb Bridge Middle School is proud to announce that the following students have won in their respective arts category, and will have their artwork judged at the PTA Council level. Congratulations to: Suraj Masand, Shubhom Bhattacharya, Sydney Klabunde, Nicole Izmaylov, Connie Xie, and Nisha Poruthoor (Literature), Leah Idichandy (Dance Choreography), Clea Cullen, Susan Lee, Mackenzie Ring, Betty Yu, Michelle Lung, and Nicholas Ross (Visual Arts), Suraj Sehgal (Music Composition), Betty Yu, Cecilia Gonzalez, Sahithi Edavally, Zachary Alford, Angie Green, and Miran Alix (Photography). The judges for the program were Richard Matthews and Becky Wilson. All participants in the PTA Reflections program this year are invited to a reception in their honor on November 24th from 8:40-9:10 a.m. in the cafeteria.

Directories are Here!
If you joined the PTA at the $40 level or higher, you should have received your directory last week. If you have not joined the PTA yet and would like a directory, it's not too late to join! Membership forms are available on the PTA website. Please visit  http://wbmspta.org to download the form. Your support of PTA helps to fund programs which directly benefit the teachers and students at WBMS.

The Sticky Fingers Fund
We are happy to announce that Junior Beta has chosen to support the McCaffrey family this year by supporting an outreach program to feed the hungry that the family has established to honor Mr. McCaffrey after his sudden death this past June. This fund has been established with the help of many people who all knew how committed Bill McCaffrey was to feeding the hungry. The McCaffrey family will be working with The Flying Biscuit and The Kashi nonprofit center to make and distribute approximately 500 meals a week.  If you wish to contribute you may do so by donating to "The Sticky Fingers Fund" by way of Kathy McCaffrey @ WBMS, or directly to the nonprofit organization Kashi @ 1681 McLendon Ave., Atlanta, GA 30309. (Please write “Sticky Fingers” in the memo on your check.) After all, how can you make 500 peanut butter sandwiches and not have Sticky Fingers? Thank you!

12-Year-Old Author Autographs New Novel
Join us as we celebrate the release of WBMS 7th grade author, Nicole Izmaylov’s, new novel, Ronnie and BB! Meet and chat with Nicole as she signs copies of her book at the Ocee Library on Saturday, November 21st from 4:30 p.m.- 5:30 p.m. All profits will benefit the Lily Anderson Cancer Fund.

Carpool Safety
Traffic is highly congested in the neighboring area surrounding our school in the morning and after school. In an attempt to ensure the safety of every student and to expedite the arrival and dismissal process, please be sure to load and unload your children only between the yellow lines in front of the school.

H1N1(Swine Flu)
Virus Preparedness Update from Fulton County Schools Superintendent.  Additional information can be found at the Georgia Department of Community Health.  A pamphlet has been provided for families to learn more about H1N1.

Flu Information Center
Is it the seasonal flu or H1N1 that's causing sniffling and coughing in our schools? Regardless of the flu type, health officials are now saying that both viruses presently are affecting children and adults similarly and should be handled in the same manner -- with plenty of rest, fluids, fever-reducing pain relievers and to stay at home until symptoms and fever are gone.  Visit the Fulton County School System Flu Information Center.  View an informational video produced by the Fulton County School System on the H1N1 virus and how your children can stay healthy.  Click here.

Early Dismissal Procedures
If a student needs to leave school before normal dismissal time, a note from the parent or guardian requesting early dismissal must be sent to the office on the morning of the requested early dismissal.  The student will be dismissed from class to come to the office at the time indicated on the note. Parents or guardians must come to the office to sign out their children.  Your cooperation with this procedure is requested as it minimizes interruptions to instruction.  Of course, in an emergency, a parent may come directly to the office to request that a student be dismissed early.

Membership Drive Still in Progress
It’s not too late to join the WBMS PTA.  Your PTA funds a wide variety of programs and events which benefit every student and faculty member at Webb Bridge.  Additionally, directories are available only by purchasing a PTA membership at the bronze ($40) level or above.  Need a form?  Visit the PTA website at www.wbmspta.org, download and print the form and send it in to your child’s homeroom teacher. The PTA appreciates your support!

Free and Reduced Meal Applications—Every Little Bit Helps
Due to the current status of our economy, we want to make all parents aware that free and reduced meal applications are available.  This is a federally assisted meal program that provides nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free meals to children each school day.  Applications may be submitted at any time during the school year and are available from the school nutrition manager at all schools in the district.  If you have questions, please feel free to contact the school cafeteria at Webb Bridge Middle School  or visit http://www.fultonschools.org/dept/schoolnutrition/ for more information.

Artists Needed!
Are you a Webb Bridge parent who loves to paint?  Webb Bridge is looking for parent volunteers who would like to finish painting works by the American Grand Masters on the walls in the halls.  If you have the time and the talent, please call the school for more information at 770-667-2940.  Thank you!

Bus Information
The FCSS transportation department is in the process of reviewing the bus schedules for WBMS.  Your child’s pick up or delivery time may change. Please check the Fulton county website (www.fultonschools.org) for details.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Affidavit of Residence required
Starting this school year, parents/guardians of all students must submit a notarized Affidavit of Residence form certifying that the family resides in Fulton County.  This applies to both current and new students and will be required annually

The purpose of the Affidavit is to make sure that only students who reside in Fulton County attend Fulton County schools. Because of Fulton’s reputation as one of the best school systems in Georgia, some families living outside of Fulton attendance zones have found creative ways to enroll their children in Fulton schools. These families take advantage of Fulton’s outstanding programs and services, yet do not pay the taxes used to fund schools. The notarized Affidavit legally verifies that all children reside in their correct school attendance zone, or have an approved transfer.

Click here and you will be redirected to Fulton County Schools' main web page to download the most current affidavit form.

Used Textbook Sale Information Now Available on PTA Website
Do you have used textbooks to sell or need to purchase one?  The PTA provides this service free of charge to all parents who want to take advantage of this exchange.  Visit www.wbmspta.org and click on the link for textbooks.  Follow the instructions for selling a book and peruse the list of available textbooks for sale.  Questions?  Contact Lauri Lusby, PTA Co-President at 678-393-9689 or laurilusby@comcast.net.

Electronic Mall School Fundraiser
