WILDCAT NEWS FOR WILSON CREEK FAMILIES

Wilson Creek Wildcats  Practice Safety

Where Knowledge Flows and Learning Grows”

Text Box: Dear Wilson Creek Family,
Wildcat Are Generous!
Thank you all for your generosity over the past week. Our PTA has sponsored two charity drives this
week. We have collected numerous coats and other winter clothing items for foster children. Almost
one hundred pair of shoes have been donated to be recycled. (Ask your children about how Nike turns
these into new products.) On top of that, after seeing the devastation of a Cobb County elementary
school during the recent floods, our staff wanted to gather materials and supplies for this school. Boxes
are overflowing with donated items from students, families and staff for the children and the teachers.
YOU CAN STILL BRING IN ITEMS TOMORROW.

PARKING ALERT- DONUTS FOR DADS
We are excited to welcome our Dads “and other dudes” to the PTA sponsored Donuts for Dads this
Monday morning, October 5 and the following Monday, October 12. Since this event takes place in the
morning, traffic will be increased and parking will be limited.

Million Minutes Reading Challenge
Our
Million Minutes Reading Challenge will begin October 1.  Our goal is to work together as a school to read and record at least 1.5 million minutes by April 1.  The Million Minutes Reading Challenge will run for six months from October 1 - March 30.  Have your student write down the number of minutes he or she reads each day and return the reading challenge log to the media center by November 4.  Students may record minutes earned while reading books, magazines, newspapers, etc. at school or at home.  Look for your child’s October reading log in today’s VIP packet.  We look forward to your child’s participation in this program and appreciate your support as we begin this challenge.  Working together, we can make reading an enjoyable experience for every child!
