Text Box: Dear Wilson Creek Family,
Student Council Elections
Student Council elections were held this week. Our candidates gave incredible speeches on Thursday

we had three candidates, Amal B., Alyssa B. and Jeremy Y. For secretary, Felicia G., Neil P. and Umber P. were the candidates. Stephen D., Gabby H., Michael M. and Raymond Z. were the vice presidential candidates. Finally, for president, Richard J., Mecca M., and Paris W. were the candidates.
Our 2009-2010 Student Council Officers are:
President - Paris W.
Vice-President - Gabby H.
Secretary - Felicia G.
Treasurer - Amal B.
Congratulations to all who participated.
Forgotten Items
Please remind your child to gather all his or her belongings before leaving the classroom at the end of
the day. Once dismissal is over, it is our policy not to allow student to go back the classroom. The
reason for this is the teacher may be in a meeting or conference, the teacher may not be there, or the
cleaning crew may be working in the room. Thank you for your cooperation and support.

PARKING ALERT- DONUTS FOR DADS
We are excited to welcome our Dads “and other dudes” to the PTA sponsored Donuts for Dads this Monday
morning, October 12. Since this event takes place in the morning, traffic will be increased and parking will be
limited.

From Our Counseling Department:
Fill Someone’s Bucket with Positive Attitude
Looking on the bright or positive side of life, being optimistic, seeing the hopeful conclusion or ending
to a problem; being happy or enthusiastic about yourself and about your day, cheerful, thankful. Showing school spirit is an example of positive attitude. In using positive attitude, you may find a window of
opportunity to solve a problem.

Are You Ready for Battle?!
Wilson Creek’s popular Battle of the Books competition for 4th and 5th graders is back once again!  This optional reading program is an excellent way for your student to explore various genres of literature and compete with other students in their grade level about their knowledge of books.  Teams are made up of two or three students, who read a set of five pre-selected books.  Teams come together in the media center for an exciting competition against other teams, who have read the same books.  The fall battle will take place on Monday, November 23 and will last about one hour, during the school day.  Fourth graders and fifth graders have separate competitions.  If your student is unable to participate in the fall Battle of the Books, a spring battle will be held in May, using five different books.  Visit the Wilson Creek Media Center website to see the list of books for the fall and spring competitions.  And don’t worry, third graders you will have your very own Battle of the Books in the spring!
