Trip 2012
 

Step 1:  Review the information below. 

Again this year, we are proud to offer the Autrey Mill eighth grade students an exciting and educational trip to Savannah, GA. The ‘Georgia Trip’ will take place September 5-7, 2012, and will include visits to Warner Robbins AFB, First African Baptist Church, Tybee Beach, Fort Jackson, River Street, and historic tours of Savannah.  Our accommodations are at an historic hotel, and transportation will be on luxury motor coaches.  While in Savannah, all students will take place in a team building day at Forsyth Park run by ‘Project Adventure’, which is a great way to begin the year and forge lasting bonds.  Also, a highlight for students is the evening dinner/dance at the Railroad Roundhouse Museum.

WHEN: The trip is scheduled for September 5-7, 2012.  We will leave AMMS at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday and return at approximately 7:00 p.m. on Friday evening.  Students will be required to arrive at AMMS between 7:15 and 7:45 a.m. on Wednesday to avoid congestion during normal carpool time.

COST:  The total cost of the trip is $300.00 per student.   This cost covers round trip transportation on luxury motor coaches, two nights hotel accommodations, admission costs, licensed tour guides, private night security, meals, taxes, gratuity, and other miscellaneous expenses. Students are responsible for personal spending money. A limited number of scholarships are available.  Please contact Chris Shearer at shearer@fultonschools.org for scholarship information. 

Payment : You may pay by cash/check payable to AMMS any time this summer or at Sneak  Preview. Payment is due in full by Monday, August 13, 2012 (1st day of school).

Payment will not be accepted without proof of insurance, and signed permission form.

Insurance information must be filled out on this form! If you wish to purchase insurance for your child for the duration of the trip, the cost is $25.00, and must be remitted by  August 13 as well in a separate check made payable to The Travel Store.

Required Forms: A signed permission form must be submitted with the payment no later than August 13. All  necessary forms are posted on the Autrey Mill website and must be completed online no later than August 13, 2012.

Medications: Students are required to submit all medications and an authorization to administer these medications directly to the clinic.  Please submit all items directly to the clinic no later than August 29, 2012.

INELIGIBILITY: Any student who receives a suspension prior to the trip as a result of an office referral will be ineligible to attend this trip.

A parent meeting will be held on August 30 at 5:45 p.m. to answer specific questions about the trip. If you have questions that you need to address prior to this meeting, please contact Chris Shearer, 8th Grade Assistant Principal, at shearer@fultonschools.org
 

Step 2:  Fill out the Student Permission Form

A signed permission form must be submitted with the deposit and proof of insurance no later than August 13. This form should be printed, signed, and returned to school along with the payment after you have thoroughly reviewed the Georgia Studies Trip Information above.
