FACULTY:

ROBERT KASSINGER-CHICAGO SYMPHONY

 Robert Kassinger was appointed to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 1993. Prior to Chicago, Rob performed as assistant principal bass with the Colorado Symphony and also played with the New Orleans Symphony. In addition to his busy schedule with the Orchestra, he is an active chamber musician. Rob performs with the Revolution Ensemble, the Orion Ensemble, Fulcrum Point, Ars Viva, Music of the Baroque, the Callisto Ensemble, MusicNow, and broadcasts on WFMT and WTTW. Most recently he has been a featured guest with Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble, and has performed Schubert’s “Trout” Quintet with Daniel Barenboim.

RUFUS REID-“ JAZZ GREAT”

Rufus Reid, one of today's premiere bassists on the international jazz scene, with his reputation firmly established in the education arena, now adds composition to his vitae. Rufus participated in the BMI Jazz Composer's Workshop for five years which has empowered him to move more deeply into the composing arena. He won the Charlie Parker Jazz Composition Award for his composition, "Skies Over Emilia." His composition, "Whims of the Blue Bird" is the result of this award's commission. This has led to further commissions. He is writing for string orchestra, jazz ensembles large and small, and double bass ensemble pieces.

Joseph Patrick Moore- Electric Bass
For more than a decade Joseph Patrick Moore has been touring, recording, and establishing himself as an artist with a unique voice and a diversity of talents. His skills as bassist; composer; arranger; producer; author; educator and founding partner of Blue Canoe Digital illustrate why he is a highly sought after musician.

MARK BERNAT ~ Mr. Bernat has appeared as soloist in major concert halls throughout the U.S, Europe, Israel, and China. Mr. Bernat is a former member of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra where he was its youngest member working with such conductors as Zubin Mehta, and Leonard Bernstein. Mr. Bernat is also a former faculty member of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and the University of Texas-Austin School of Music. Presently Mr. Bernat is serves on the faculty at Emory University and is director of The Bass Club of Georgia.
