29 Continuation of preparation for GHSGT. Today we will discuss questions/points of
difficulty you had as you wrote and provide solutions. We will spend some time reviewing the following
sentence for all things significant: “His room smelled of cooked grease,
Lysol, and age.” What makes this sentence work? How would changing word order change the
meaning? What is unusual about the
diction? What do we know about the
boy/man who inhabits this room? What
can we say structurally about the sentence?
Grammatically? This exercise
will be the foundation of most of our learning concerning grammar. |
