Welcome to ELL at Dolvin Elementary School. My name is Ms. Bodelson and I have been teaching ELL at Dolvin for 12 years. I have 20 years of teaching experience. I have a Bachelors degree in Education and also a Masters degree. I received my ELL endorsement at the graduate level. I have taught ELL to adults, teachers, and currently I am teaching kindergarten through fifth grade at Dolvin. The 2007-08 school year has had 46 children, from 15 countries, in the program. The classes consist of speaking, listening, reading, and writing in English. Every child who enrolls in Dolvin and indicates a second language must be tested for the program. The test that is given is the WAPT and measures the children’s abilities in speaking, listening, reading, and writing English. If children receive ELL services, they are tested yearly to measure their progress. The test used at that time is the Access test. This test is used by many school systems in the United States. All children from every country are welcome in my classroom and at Dolvin. We enjoy learning English together as well as learning and sharing of our cultures.
Teaching ELL is very exciting because I am given the opportunity to meet children from all around the world. The childr children are always welcome in my classroom and at Dolvin.
