Homework/Classwork Expectations:

Students can expect to receive nightly homework in Math 7.  Every attempt will be made to assign problems that may be completed in approximately 20 minutes.  All math work is to be written in pencil only.  It is crucial that class work and homework be completed in an organized fashion, making sure to show all steps used in solving the problem.  If the student does not show the necessary work and/or explanation on his/her paper, it will be considered an incomplete assignment.

Fulton County Grading Scale:

A       90 and above

B        80 to 89

C        70 to 79

F        69 and below

By Fulton County Policy, any grade below 70 is failing

Provision for Improving Grades:

Opportunities designed to allow students to recover from a failing cumulative grade will be allowed when all work required to date has been completed and the student has demonstrated a legitimate effort to meet all the course requirements, including attendance.  Students should contact teacher concerning recovery opportunities.  All recovery work must be completed 10 school days prior to the end of the semester.

Scheduled Help Sessions:

Help sessions are available before school from 8:10 to 8:25 Monday through Thursday.  Please be mindful this time is set aside for students to ask questions about homework and concepts taught in class.

Teacher/Parent Communication:

Each student’s agenda will be used for daily communication.  Please check agenda nightly.  Other means of communication will include e-mail, conferences, interim report of grades (sent home at 4-1/2-week and 9-week intervals) and phone contact as needed.

Absence Make-Up Procedures:

Upon returning to school following an absence, it is the student’s responsibility to contact the teacher to request make-up work.  The student will be given the same amount of time to make up the work as the student was absent unless other arrangements are mutually agreed upon.  The student will receive the actual grade on the make-up work if the absence was excused.  Make-up work for unexcused absences may be reduced by 10 points.  Make-up work submitted late will receive a zero.

Classroom Procedures and Expectations:

In order to maintain an environment conducive to learning, students are expected to follow class, school and county guidelines for behavior, as found at the beginning of the Agenda.  Should a student not follow classroom rules, the teacher may use a variety of methods to correct the inappropriate behavior.  Such methods include a verbal warning, a seating change, a conference between the student and the teacher, a written warning, a phone call to the parent, private detention, or a referral to the 6th grade administrator.

Materials Needed for Class:  Students will need to bring to class everyday
