 Fulton County Schools Social Workers celebrated this month at a meeting, luncheon and can food drive to benefit the Community Centers that help us help our students and families.

.

What is Social Work Month?

· This important observance is an annual opportunity in March for the profession to reflect on its history, celebrate the important work that is being done and look towards a promising future for those we serve.

· This is our annual opportunity to educate people about the profession and issues important to social workers.

Reinvestment ACT / Initiative

 

The Social work Reinvestment Initiative is a collaborative effort among social work organizations to secure federal and state investments to recruit, train and retain professional social workers and to support research that improves social, human and health service outcomes.

 

The 2009 Social Work Theme, ”Social Work: Purpose and Possibility” provides a good frame from which to support the Reinvestment Act to reinvest in the profession

Council on Social Work Education

 

The council exist to strengthen the profession of Social Work leadership in research, career advancement and education.

School Social Work Association of Georgia

 

SSWAG exist to improve the quality of services to students so as to enhance their educational potential.

NASW, The National Association of Social Workers, in Washington , D.C., is the largest membership organization of professional social workers with nearly 150,000 members in 56 chapters throughout the united States and its territories.  It promotes, develops, and protects the practice of social work and social workers.  It also seeks to enhance the well-being of individuals, families, and communities through its advocacy for social justice
