I’m here to DANCE...not Wrestle

Welcome to dancig with the REAL STARS…our children

This is a unit we are studying in PE that will conclude with an assessment and a Celebration Dance on Wednesday April 29th- WILDCAT STYLE…

What you will find on this page are the 4 ballroom dances your child is studying in PE.  There is a section for the dance steps, ad libs, and suggested music to prctice the steps.

Feel free to concact me with any questions you have about the assessments, the dance, and the practice days.  What I have found is that practice, practice, practice is the not only way that I am not soo bad, but that the partners I dance with don’t seem to care how ‘bad’ I think am, they are just happy I’m taking a little time out of my ‘busy’ life to dance with them…

The following are the Dances they will be learning:        (click in the dance to see the steps)

Foxtrot

Rumba

Waltz

Swing

An essential part is that Men start ALL patterns on the left foot – Ladies on the right foot (that’s because the ladies are always right.  :0)

The diagrams below are my attempt to make the dances easier…although making something easier is not my speciality…in these dances boy’s steps are the paws that are pointing toward the top of the screen.  The girl’s paws are pointing toward the bottom of the screen .  To hopefully make it easier, the blue feet are the first steps (left for boys, right for girls) and the red feet are the second steps (right for boys, left for girls.)

Foxtrot

The pattern of the foxtrot is counter clockwise…it has a basic step and a left turn…for the test, students will only travel and turn…at the dance on April 29th they can take as many travel steps as they wish until it is time to turn.
