Welcome to 2^nd Grade

Dear Parents,

            We have had a wonderful first week of school.  I have really enjoyed getting to know each and every student.  This is truly an amazing group of kids!  I am really looking forward to a successful year of learning and growth for each student. 

            Here are a few things that you might need to know to get the year started off well.  We have specials at 1:10 daily.  We have P.E. on Monday and Wednesday, Music on Thursday, and Art on Friday.  Computer Lab on Wednesday from 10:25-10:55.  Our lunchtime is 11:30 – 12:00.  If you need to communicate with me, you may email me at ducrayc@fultonschools.org.   I will check my email before and after school each day.  Please be aware I do not check my e-mail throughout the school day.

            Homework will be sent home on a weekly basis.  The packet will come home each Monday and needs to be completed and returned each Friday.  Spelling words will be included in the packet.  Please take an additional 10-15 minutes each night to review and practice the new spelling words as well as reviewing words from previous weeks. The spelling tests will be on Fridays.   I told the children that I also expect them to be reading everyday for at least 20 minutes.

            Curriculum Night is scheduled for September 5th.  At this time, I will discuss the second grade curriculum and procedures for our class.  This is a great time to get to know our routine in second grade!

            I am so pleased to have the opportunity to be your child’s teacher.  I appreciate all of the support you give to your child, our class, and to Dolvin.
