General Information

School Hours

The school day begins at 7:20 a.m.  At that time, students can complete morning duties and be engaged in social activities in the Commons.  It is essential that your child arrive at school on time, as instruction will begin promptly at 7:50.  Dismissal begins at 2:20 p.m.

Binders and Agendas

Students will be required to maintain a binder provided by the school.   Students must have their binders and agendas in class every day.  Students will be responsible for recording homework, projects, and test dates in their agendas.  Please be sure to review and initial your child’s agenda each night. 

Behavior

To ensure a positive and productive learning environment for all students, an expectation of minimal classroom distractions will be strictly enforced.  Consequences for inappropriate behavior may include any of the following:

  [Verbal reprimand

  [Loss of Commons privileges

  [Phone call or note home

  [Formal write-up

  [Removal from room

Your child’s behavior will be noted daily on the Parent/Teacher Connection Sheet.  Please be sure to monitor this sheet daily.

Homework

Homework will be assigned daily.  On average, assignments should require approximately 45 minutes of focused time to complete.    If your child greatly exceeds this time frame, please let us know so that I can make adjustments.  In addition to daily homework assignments, students will also be required to read a total of 100 minutes per week.

Late Homework

If a student fails to turn in any homework assignment, it will be indicated on the Parent/Teacher Connection Sheet.  Late homework assignments will result in a grade reduction, and no late assignments will be accepted after two days .

Grading

A grade of “D” has been eliminated from the grading scale.  The grading scale is now as follows: 

A  90-100    B  80-89        C   70-79        F   69 and below
