Welcome 7th Grade Parents

If you've made it to this site, you are off to a good start.  If you are accessing this page before information day, I look forward to meeting you there. If you are accessing this site after information day, I hope that your day went well and that you got an opportunity to meet some (if not all) of your child's teachers. If you didn't get an opportunity to meet me in person, I look forward to meeting you at parent night in the next few weeks. In the meantime, you have already accessed one of the best ways to keep up with your child's daily work and progress in my class.

If you have not already done so, I would encourage you to bookmark my Homepage.  This will be a useful site for both you and your child.  It is updated weekly and gives you direct access not only to your child's daily homework assignments, but to a wealth of other class related information.

Anytime that you are interested in what we did in class on any particular day, you will find it here.  Anytime you are interested in what your child should be working on for homework on any given night, you will find it here.  If you want to see how your child is evaluated on projects, essays, and daily assignments, you will find it here.  If you are wondering if your child has a long term project approaching, you will find it here, posted at least 6 weeks in advance of the presentation date.  The course syllabus for each class that I teach is posted on this site along with a variety of other resources that I encourage you to explore at your leisure.

Your child should also find this site useful.  The entire week's planned activities and homework assignments will usually be posted by Sunday evening.  This will give your child an opportunity to plan his/her week in advance.  Extra Credit is periodically posted on this page as well, if your child is interested in earning some extra points on one of the regularly scheduled quizzes or tests.

If you haven't already done so, I encourage you to register as soon as possible with ParentConnect.  This will give you direct access to your child's grades as they are entered into our electronic grade books and let you know if your child is actually in attendance in his assigned classrooms on time.  This is one of the best ways to keep you from getting a surprise when progress reports are sent home and will enable you to closely follow the academic progress of your child.  After the 10 day count, our electronic grade books will begin to function and you should be able to view actual grade updates at the end of each school day.  A link to ParentConnect can be found on the menu bar on the left or on the Northwestern homepage.  Although ParentConnect is a great way to view your child's grades on assignments that have been graded and recorded,  the Daily Assignment and Homework page on this site and the Presentation Calendar offer a better way to keep up with what is coming up in both the immediate and upcoming weeks. ParentConnect shows where we've been, while my web can keep you informed with where we're headed.

My teammates and I use email as our preferred way to keep in direct contact with you.  You will find this to be the fastest way to communicate your concerns to us.  Our computers are turned on from the time we get to school, until the time that we leave.  If you email us, we will usually be able to respond to you within the day, or by the next day at the latest.  To expedite our ability to communicate with you, we'd appreciate it if you would take a minute to email us at this time so we can easily and accurately enter your email address into our own electronic address books. Use the links at the bottom of this page to access us.  Please include both your name and your child's name as well, so we can accurately build our records.  Thank you for both your interest and support.  We look forward to productively working with your family this year.
