Hello! Welcome to my website!

My name is David Smith and I am happy to be teaching your children this year. It is a great privilege to be involved in their education.

Let me tell you about myself.

I was born in Roswell, GA. as were my parents and grandparents. I attended Roswell North Elementary, Crabapple Middle, and Roswell High School. After high school, I joined the Air Force as a structural engineer. My base station was Hill Air Force Base, located right above Salt Lake City, Utah. I spent almost five years in the military during the first Gulf War. I injured my knee and returned home to continue my education. While pursuing a degree in structural engineering, I took a job as a teacher assistant working with preschool and kindergarten special education students. This job was only to have money to pay bills - I never dreamed that I would be interested in working in a school. Well, it didn't take long for me to fall in love with teaching and being around the kids. I changed schools and changed my major to Early Childhood Education. Since that huge step in my life, I have worked in nine different schools as a teacher assistant and an inclusion specialist. I moved around to gain as much experience as possible and to witness different learning environments. I have worked with many different types of special education students, but mainly students with Autism and behavior disorders. Working with such a wide variety of students and age groups has really given me a strong background. After getting my degree, I taught second grade at Ocee Elementary and Wilson Creek Elementary for six years. I was also on the leadership team at both schools for a total of four years.

This will be my third year at Creek View Elementary teaching fourth grade. I will serving on the leadership team for the fourth grade again this year as well. I am really excited about the upcoming year!

It is my desire to instill a love of learning in each of my students and to help them to become good citizens. I covet your prayers and support as I endeavor to accomplish my personal goals, as well as my goals for your children this year.
